The Fire and Safety Section at IIT Bombay observed 55th National Safety Week under the theme “Engage, Educate & Empower People to Enhance Safety”. The event was inaugurated on 5th March at P.C. Saxena auditorium, featuring expert insights on fire and safety, along with appreciation awards recognizing contributions to safety.

Throughout the week, various activities were conducted, including:

• Three fire mock drills in academic, hostel and residential buildings, conducted in collaboration with the Mumbai Fire Brigade
• A chemical safety workshop for research scholars
• Three CPR and Basic First Aid sessions for the IIT Bombay community conducted by experts
• Digital and manual poster and slogan competitions, along with a safety quiz for the IIT Bombay community
• Safety discussion with hostel management
• Two Leadership Safety Walks at project sites
• Road safety awareness drive

The event concluded on 11th March with an awards ceremony, reaffirming IIT Bombay’s commitment to fostering a safe and secure environment.
