The Indian Institute of Technology Bombay is organizing an Institute lecture on Tuesday, January 24, 2023.

The details of the lecture are given below:

Title: "Practical Steps towards Reproducibility and Replicability"

Speaker: Professor Alejandro Frery, Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand

Abstract: Science in general, and Empirical Science in particular, relies on a few essential practices. We will review some of the best scientific practices, particularly Reproducibility and Replicability. These two elements promote and require, among others, data transparency and Open Science. We will discuss the importance of practicing good Science, and we will see practical steps and tools that may aid researchers in achieving these goals with the least possible impact on current practices. The tools we will discuss are multi-platform and free to use.

About the Speaker: Prof. Alejandro C. Frery, currently Professor of Statistics and Data Science with the Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand. His research interests are data visualization, statistical computing, and stochastic modeling, with applications in signal and image processing, and networks. Recently he has been selected as a Vice-President of Publications at IEEE Geoscience and Remote Sensing Administrative Committee (AdCom).
